Every scope, on record.

EazyConstruct is a mobile app that connects people who need building work done with contractors across South Africa. It keeps the whole job on one signed record, from the quote and any extras to the progress photos and the payments.

The problem

Handshake jobs go wrong in the same four places.

When a building job runs on verbal agreements and message threads, the same problems come up for clients and contractors alike.

  1. 01

    Extras get agreed verbally.

“Just add this quickly” turns into a surprise on the final invoice, because nobody wrote down what it would cost.

  2. 02

Money moves before the proof does.

Payments change hands on a phone call instead of on evidence that the work is actually done.

  3. 03

There's nothing to point back to.

When the two sides disagree about scope, there's no signed baseline that shows what was agreed.

  4. 04

The paper trail is made of WhatsApps.

Quotes, changes, photos and approvals end up scattered across chats, calls and memory.

For contractors

It means chasing payments and doing extra work that nobody pays for.

For clients

It means not knowing who to trust or what you actually agreed to pay for.

The fix

EazyConstruct puts the whole job on one signed record.

Every part of the job lives on the same project in the app, where the client and the contractor can both see it. Nothing important depends on a phone call or a message thread.

How it works

Six steps, from the first message to the final payment.

This is the real flow in the app, in order. The screens are from the app itself, shown with example data.

  1. Step 01

    Find each other.

Clients and contractors find each other in the app, and they can talk before anything is agreed.

    • ClientPost a job with the trade you need, a description, the location, your budget and whether it's urgent.
    • ClientOr browse the contractor directory by trade, rating and distance, and invite a contractor directly.
    • ContractorBrowse open jobs, filter them by trade, save the ones you like and request the ones you want.
    • BothMessage each other in the app before anything is agreed. Phone numbers stay private until a quote is signed.
    • BothOnce the client picks a contractor, everyone else who showed interest is told that the job has been filled.

Screenshot: The Find Jobs screen, listing open jobs with their trade, suburb and budget, such as an exterior repaint in Stellenbosch for R24,500.

    A contractor's Find Jobs feed.
  2. Step 02

    Choose how materials are handled.

When the client posts the job, they choose who takes care of the materials.

    • ClientChoose self-managed to deal with materials yourself. The contractor's quote then covers both materials and labour.
    • ClientChoose company-managed to have EazyConstruct source the materials from its supplier catalogue and bill them separately from labour.
    • BothAn oversight fee applies to company-managed materials, and it's shown upfront when the client chooses that option.
    Compare the two options

    B

The client picks one option when posting the job.
  3. Step 03

    Lock the scope.

The contractor sends an itemised quote, and the client signs it in the app.

    • ContractorList each item with its quantity and unit price. The quote adds up a materials total and shows the labour cost as a separate figure.
    • ClientReview the quote on your phone and sign it in the app.
    • BothSending and signing the quote also signs the Project Agreement: the contract for the job, covering payments, extras, completion, the 90-day workmanship guarantee, cancellations and disputes.
    • BothThe signed quote is locked and timestamped. It becomes the baseline that everything afterwards is measured against.
    • BothThe signed quote is tamper-evident, so any later change to its contents would show up.

Screenshot: A signed quote listing kitchen cabinetry, plumbing fittings, porcelain floor tiles and quartz countertops, a materials total of R111,900.00 and a separate labour cost of R38,000.00.

A signed quote, with materials and labour shown separately.
  4. Step 04

    Plan and track the work.

The contractor breaks the job into stages, and both sides can follow the progress.

    • ContractorPublish a work plan broken into stages, such as “Demolition & subfloor prep” and “Cabinetry, tiling & plumbing rough-in”.
    • ContractorMark each stage done with photos as the work gets done.
    • ClientReview each stage and approve it, or say what still needs to be done.
    • BothSee the progress and the photos on the project at any time.

  5. Step 05

    Approve extras before they happen.

If something was missed from the original materials list, it goes through a change order first.

    • ContractorRaise a change order with a short description and an amount, such as “Replace rotted subfloor, R680”.
    • ClientGet a notification, then tap Approve or Decline.
    • BothNothing extra is added without the client's approval, and every approved change is added to the project record.

A change order waiting for the client's decision.
  6. Step 06

    Verify, then pay.

Payments follow the schedule on the signed quote, and the final payment waits for proof.

    • ClientPay the deposit once the contractor has published the work plan. EazyConstruct holds it until the contractor records the site handover, showing that work has started.
    • BothThe final payment falls due only once the client has approved every stage and confirmed practical completion.
    • ClientPay each amount by EFT using its payment reference.
    • BothEach payment shows its status on the project, from awaiting payment to payment received to paid out to the contractor.
    • BothA self-managed job is complete once the client has confirmed practical completion and the final payment has been paid out. A company-managed job also needs an EazyConstruct inspection sign-off before it's marked complete.
    • BothThe contractor guarantees their workmanship for 90 days after practical completion. Any defect is reported and fixed through the app.
    • ClientRate the contractor once the job is done. Ratings build up from completed jobs.

Materials

Two ways to handle materials. The client chooses.

When a client posts a job, they pick one of these two options. The choice decides who sources the materials and how they're billed and paid for.

A

Self-managed

You handle the materials.

Who sources materials
The client deals with materials themselves.
What the quote covers
The contractor's quote covers both materials and labour.
How it's paid
Materials and labour are both paid to the contractor.
Fees
No oversight fee applies.
Paperwork and checks
The contractor can log material purchase receipts on the project, so the client can see what was spent.
B

Company-managed

EazyConstruct handles the materials.

Who sources materials
EazyConstruct sources the materials from its maintained supplier catalogue.
What the quote covers
Materials are billed separately from the contractor's labour.
How it's paid
The materials and the oversight fee are paid together, separately from labour.
Fees
An oversight fee applies, based on the materials cost with a minimum amount. It's shown upfront when you choose this option and itemised on the quote.
Paperwork and checks
EazyConstruct confirms the materials have been delivered before the contractor's work goes ahead.

The current rates are on the Fees page. They can change, but never for a quote that's already signed. The oversight fee for a job is shown to the client upfront, before they choose company-managed materials.

Payments and protection

Payment follows proof, not phone calls.

Every payment is tied to the signed quote and to evidence that the work was done. EazyConstruct confirms each client payment before paying out the contractor.

  1. The schedule is set by the signed quote.

Payments follow the schedule on the signed quote: a deposit, then the final payment. Approved change orders are paid straight away.

  2. The deposit is held until work starts.

EazyConstruct holds the deposit and pays it to the contractor only once they've recorded the site handover in the app, showing that work has started.

  3. The work is proven stage by stage.

The contractor marks each work-plan stage done with photos, and the client approves each one on the project.

  4. The final payment waits for proof.

It falls due only once the client has approved every stage and confirmed practical completion.

  5. The client pays by EFT.

Each payment has its own payment reference, which the client uses when making the bank transfer.

  6. The job is marked complete.

A self-managed job is complete once the client has confirmed practical completion and the final payment has been paid out. On a company-managed job, an EazyConstruct inspector also signs off first. The contractor's 90-day workmanship guarantee starts at practical completion.

  7. Disputes wait with the money held.

If something goes wrong, either side can raise a dispute in the app. EazyConstruct holds any money on the job that hasn't been paid out while it's worked through.

  8. Ratings build up.

Clients can rate the contractor, and ratings build up from completed jobs.

Who it's for

Built for both sides of the job.

EazyConstruct has two kinds of accounts. Clients are homeowners and property owners who need work done. Contractors are general builders and specialist trades, each listed under their trade.

FAQ

Answers to the questions that come up most.

Short answers to the questions clients and contractors ask most.

Contact support
Is EazyConstruct free?

Free during beta. Clients don't pay to post jobs or find contractors, contractors join for free, and there's no platform fee on any job signed during the beta, even after the beta ends.

If a client chooses company-managed materials, an oversight fee still applies, and it's shown upfront. The current rates are on the Fees page.

What happens after the beta?

EazyConstruct will announce the end of the beta, and any new pricing, in the app and by email at least 30 days before it takes effect.

Any job signed during the beta stays free of the platform fee, even after the beta ends.

Contractors who join during the beta are founding contractors, and get their first 3 months of Pro free once subscriptions start.

How do payments work?

Payments follow the schedule on the signed quote: a deposit, then the final payment. Approved change orders are paid straight away. Clients pay by EFT into EazyConstruct's account with the payment reference, and every payment's status is shown on the project until it's paid out.

EazyConstruct holds the deposit until the contractor records the site handover, which shows that work has started. Other payments are paid out within 3 Business Days of arriving, or of the client approving the work where that's needed, so payouts aren't instant.

What happens if extra work comes up?

The contractor raises a change order with a price and a description. Nothing extra goes ahead until the client approves it in the app. An approved change order is paid straight away, so the work can carry on.

When is the final payment released?

The final payment falls due once the client has approved every work-plan stage (each one marked done with photos), any Certificate of Compliance the job needs has been uploaded, and the client has confirmed practical completion.

It's then paid out to the contractor. It's free during beta: jobs signed during the beta have no platform fee.

What's the difference between self-managed and company-managed materials?

With self-managed materials, the client deals with materials themselves. The contractor's quote covers materials and labour, and both are paid to the contractor.

With company-managed materials, EazyConstruct sources the materials from its maintained supplier catalogue, and they're billed and paid separately from the contractor's labour. An oversight fee applies, based on the materials cost with a minimum amount. It's shown upfront when the client chooses this option, it's itemised on the quote, and it's paid together with the materials. EazyConstruct confirms the materials have been delivered before the contractor's work goes ahead.

Is my signed quote on record?

Yes. Signed quotes are timestamped, locked and tamper-evident, and they're stored as the project's baseline.

Is there a contract for each job?

Yes. Every job has its own signed Project Agreement between the client and the contractor. The contractor accepts it by sending the quote, and the client by signing it.

It covers the payment schedule, change orders, completion, the 90-day workmanship guarantee, cancellations and disputes. You can read the template on the Project Agreement page.

What if something's wrong after the job is finished?

The contractor guarantees their workmanship for 90 days after practical completion. If a defect appears, the client reports it in the app with photos. The contractor must respond within 3 Business Days and fix it at their own cost within 10 Business Days, or by a date you both agree.

The guarantee doesn't cover fair wear and tear, misuse or damage caused by someone else, and it's on top of your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

What if there's a dispute?

Try to sort it out in the app's messages first. If that doesn't work, either side can raise a dispute in the app while the job is in progress or during the 90-day guarantee.

EazyConstruct then holds any money on the job that hasn't been paid out yet. Both sides can send their side, with photos or documents, within 5 Business Days, and EazyConstruct gives both a written recommendation within 10 Business Days after that. The recommendation doesn't bind either side, and clients keep their right to go to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the Small Claims Court.
